We do extensive background checks and our employees are handpicked for character, attitude and personal discipline. In the Superior One screening process, security officers are assessed on their motivation and ability to perform the mental and physical tasks required at any location. The initial screening is conducted by the recruitment manager, (Director of Security or Client Service Manager) who has formal training in psychology and extensive experience in evaluating people.  During this initial screening, the hiring manager evaluates:
  • Dress and Demeanor
  • Ability-to-follow instructions
  • English fluency
  • Attitude and interpersonal skills.
 Step B Review of Application After the applicant has completed a comprehensive application form, the recruitment manager reviews the application for any discrepancies or “red flags.” Application form includes information regarding educational levels, prior relevant experience, references along with copies of drivers’ license, current guard card, or any other relevant certifications (first aid/CPR/AED). Step C      First Interview  The interview is designed to determine the accuracy of the application and the individual’s ability to perform security officer duties.  Through the interview any limitations the applicant may have is assessed, along with prior security experience and ability to communicate effectively.  Step D     Applicants Test When the application is completely reviewed, the applicant is given a “Powers-to-Arrest” test.  If completed with 100% accuracy, a background check follows.  Step E   Background Check  After the interview, a comprehensive background check is completed including:
  • Character references
  • Prior employment checks
  • Department of Motor Vehicle record check
  • Criminal background checks through the State of CA Department of Justice and the FBI, (including local and nationwide criminal conviction records)
  • Successful applicants must pass a multi-panel drug screen.
 Step F     6.5 License & Certification  
  • All Superior One Security Officers are required to have an active & valid Guard Card, registered with California’s BSIS. They are to maintain their Guard Card and carry a copy with them, while on duty, at all times.
Phase 2  7.0   Level I – Initial Officer Training All new Superior One employee undergoes a mandatory orientation in which they are introduced to our organizational structure including, mission statement, services, company philosophies, policies and procedures and our extensive focus on customer service.  The following are some of the topics addressed during the Initial Officer Training (IOT) stage:

  5. Observation and Description
  6. Specialized Training


As a vendor with 19 years of security management and guard experience, we continually strive to meet the needs and expectations of our clients and realize that meeting those needs and expectations is an on-going process.  We have outlined the initial steps of that process below

The following are the major qualifications for security staff for this project.

  • Supervisor will have at least five (5) years professional experience in providing and managing security services.
  • Will provide trained and certified security officers with at least three (3) years of professional experience.
  • Must have adequate staff of trained security officer professionals to meet the demand.
  • Must have all appropriate licenses and certificates required in the state of California.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Security Officers will possess and exercise strong personal interactive skills when dealing with the public.
  • Security Officers will have exemplary personal appearance.
  • Security Officers will pass drug tests and be clean of criminal records.
  • Security Officers will be able to write and communicate very well.
